About Founders Jimmy Iovine and Dr. Dre
In 2022, Jimmy Iovine and Andre “Dr. Dre” Young founded the first Iovine and Young Center Integrated Design, Technology, and Entrepreneurship Magnet, which is located in Los Angeles. In fall 2024, the pair opened the Iovine and Young Center (IYC) at Frederick Douglass High School in Atlanta, and an Inglewood, California, location will open its doors in 2025. The mission of Jimmy and Dr. Dre is to help more students develop relevant, 21st-century skills that will prepare them for post-secondary education and the workforce.

Andre “Dr. Dre” Young
Dr. Dre is a GRAMMY award winner, philanthropist, and entrepreneur. He’s the founder and CEO of Aftermath Entertainment and co-founder of Beats Electronics, the USC Iovine and Young Academy, and the Iovine and Young Center with Jimmy. A Compton, California, native, Dr. Dre co-founded the revolutionary rap group N.W.A. and embarked on his solo career in 1992 with the release of his debut album. He won a GRAMMY for Best Rap Solo Performance (“Let Me Ride”) in 1993 and launched Aftermath Entertainment in 1996, discovering hip-hop superstars such as Kendrick Lamar, Anderson Paak, and Eminem. Dr. Dre, along with Jimmy, has won a GRAMMY and an Emmy for the HBO docuseries “The Defiant Ones.”
